After God has called Abram to leave his country, people, and his father’s household to go to “a land God will show him”, God gives Abram a blessing and a promise. This passage is known as the Abrahamic covenant and is another covenant, like the Noahic covenant, that is an unconditional covenant. God makes a promise to Abraham that requires nothing of Abram in return, except one thing. Before Abram can be blessed and be a blessing, he must follow God out into the great unknown. (Genesis 15:18-21 will describe a part of the Abrahamic Covenant, specifically dealing with the dimensions of the land God promises to Abram and his descendants - gotquestions.org).
When we were given the opportunity to serve in Latin America, I felt like God was offering me a gift. It was as if he was saying to me, I have this gift for you to serve me in Latin America, will you accept my gift? As comfortable as I was in the Staes, I could not imagine saying to God, “No, your gift is not good enough for me. I want a different gift.” For me, the is why helped me to accept the opportunity to follow God, with my family, into the great unknown. And to serve God here in Latin America. In what area of your life is God asking you to step out and trust him? Are you willing?
